The Free Houran Conglomerate has documented a grim toll of violence during the month of July 2023 in Daraa province, recording the killing of 57 individuals, including two children and two women. It also documented the death of a person who was subjected to torture after being arrested by a local group affiliated with the regime’s State Security Branch.
Comprised of local activists, the Conglomerate reported a total of 42 operations and assassination attempts, resulting in 37 fatalities, 15 injuries, and 7 individuals who survived the assassination attempts.
Throughout July, the Conglomerate recorded at least 25 arrests by the Assad regime forces, with 6 of the detainees released within the same month. The arrests were carried out by various security apparatuses, including 18 by the Military Intelligence, 4 by the Air Force Intelligence, and 3 by the General Intelligence.
The report further documented 22 kidnapping cases in Daraa province in July, including 13 people from the province who were abducted in western rural Homs. It said that 12 of them were eventually released, while one individual remained in captivity at the time of the report’s publication.
