Vice-president of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Ruba Habboush, said that the ongoing civil resistance in the freed territories, most notably the mass protests that took place on Friday, is a clear expression of our people’s rejection of the presence of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorist group in those territories. She stressed that civil resistance is the impetus of the revolution against the Assad regime and terrorist organizations, dictatorships and oppression in Syria.
Habboush stressed that the voice of the people is the true expression of the spirit of the revolution and its continuity despite all the setbacks and events that the revolution witnessed in the past 11 years. She also stressed that these protests sent a clear message rejecting HTS terrorist group and its presence in the freed territories, including Idlib areas, where civilians live under the control of HTS.
Habboush pointed out that demonstrators who took to the streets on Friday also sent a message to the Syrian National Army, urging it to unify against all forms of dictatorship. They also called for forming effective institutions whose mission is to defend the freed territories and confront the Assad regime and terrorist organizations with transnational agendas and goals.
