Ruba Haboush, Vice-President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, commended the stance of the United States and other countries that refuse to normalize relations with the murderous Assad regime. Haboush stressed the importance of other countries following suit and increasing pressure on the regime responsible for the suffering of Syrians since the start of the revolution for freedom and dignity in 2011.
Haboush also emphasized the need to hold the Bashar al-Assad regime accountable for the crimes it has committed and to achieve a political transition to end the ongoing human suffering caused by the regime and its allies.
These comments came as the US State Department spokesman, Vedant Patel, reaffirmed the US’s rejection of normalization with the al-Assad regime. Patel urged those engaged with Damascus to consider how their actions can help meet the needs of Syrians, no matter where they live. He emphasized that the US administration does not support any normalization in the absence of concrete progress towards a political solution.
