Secretary-General of the Syrian Coalition Nazir al-Hakim reiterated support for the Coalition’s Supreme Hajj Committee, praising its role in the management of the affairs of Syrian pilgrims.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Committee at the headquarters of the Syrian Coalition in Istanbul on Saturday, Hakim said that the Coalition is avidly seeking to provide more services to the Syrian people in Syria and abroad through its institutions, committees, and the Syrian Interim Government (SIG).
The Secretary-General pointed out that the Committee should increase its efforts to handle more applications by Syrians who want to perform hajj, praising the cooperation by the host countries and their facilitation of the entry and exit of Syrian pilgrims.
Hakim called on members of the Committee to consider receiving applications from Syrians who live in regime-controlled areas.
For his part, Deputy Head of the Committee Samer Birqdar said that out of more than 22,000 applications for hajj the Committee received last year, 15,000 were accepted. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
