Nasser al-Hariri, member of the political committee, said that “the Syrian Coalition’s visit to China is an important step and reflects a genuine desire for mutual understanding between the two sides. Encouraged by Beijing’s latest positive attitudes, we intend to stress the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.” Yahya Maktabi, member of the political committee, said that “China is an effective player in the international scene, especially in the Security Council and we need to open in-depth discussions with Beijing in order to know what lies behind their positions toward the Syrian Revolution.” Hariri also stresses that “this step must be followed by several steps to build a common vision with the Chinese sided.” Furthermore, Ziyad al-Hasan, member of the political committee, said that “the efforts of the Syrian Coalition must be focused on reaching out to the permanent members of the UN Security Council. We also need to convey the real image of the Syrian revolution to all countries of the international community, as their interests are in fact linked to the Syrian people, not to the Assad regime which will eventually collapse in the face of the people’s aspiration for freedom and democracy.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
