Members of the opposition’s High Negotiations Committee (HNC) and representatives of the revolutionary bodies in eastern Ghouta discussed the document of “common points” put forward by the UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura at the end of the last round of Geneva negotiations.
During a teleconference organized by the Syrian Coalition’s office in eastern Ghouta, both sides discussed the latest field developments in the Marj area in eastern Ghouta, the course of the Geneva negotiations, and de Mistura’s document.
The conferees included head of the opposition’s negotiating delegation Asa’ad al-Zoabi and the opposition’s chief negotiator Mohammad Alloush.
Director of the Syrian Coalition’s offices in Syria Mohammed Khair al-Wazir said that further meetings would be held between the HNC members and the rest of the provincial offices in Syria prior to and during the next round of the Geneva negotiations.
Al-Wazir said that the Syrian Coalition seeks to channel, through the HNC, the demands of the Syrian people of forming a transitional governing body with full executive powers without Bashar al-Assad as the basis for any political solution in Syria.
This meeting is the second of its kind that brought together the HNC and the revolutionary bodies inside Syria. The first meeting was held on March 21. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
