Syrian Coalition VP Nagham al-Ghadiri said that the Assad regime and Iranian militias are launching retaliatory air strikes against civilians in Dara’a and Rural Damascus in response to rebels’ liberation of the town of Bosra al-Sham and their advance on Idlib.
“This escalation of bombardment against rebel-held areas was obviously ordered by the Iranian regime which was enraged by the aerial campaign against their Houthi agents in Yemen,” Ghadiri said.
Dozens of civilians were killed or injured in a series of air raids on many rebel-held areas across Syria. Rights groups have documented 24 people killed, including three children and a woman, as a result of barrel bomb attacks carried out by helicopters of the Assad regime. Over 20 barrel bombs also struck villages and towns in Dara’a province, leaving dozens of civilian casualties. Field hospitals announced they could not take in more casualties because of ongoing aerial bombardment by Assad’s air force.
Furthermore, at least 20 civilians were killed in raids that targeted a mosque during prayers time in Al-Marj in eastern Ghouta, while more than 30 barrel bombs hit the outskirts of Al-Zabadani over the past three days. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
