Jarba: Military Agenda Will Dominate General Assembly Meetings

The Head of the Syrian National Coalition, Ahmad Jarba, stressed that “a large percentage of the Syrian Coalition General Assembly meetings scheduled for the middle of next month will be devoted to following up the work of military commissions and escalating confrontations with Assad Forces, who seek gain as many military wins before Geneva II.” Jarba added that “during the meetings in Istanbul, the General Assembly will listen to the findings of the Committee which was formed during the tenth session of General Assembly meetings held earlier this month.” He added that “the goal of this committee and its work is to communicate with the revolutionary and military forces inside Syria.” This Committee consists of 28 members of the Syrian Coalition. Jarba also stressed the importance placed upon the committee’s communication with the steadfast fighters in order to stay current with their views and needs to assist them as much as possible in the battlefield in the face of Assad’s forces and the Iranian and Iraqi militias. Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
