Ahmad Jarba, president of the Syrian Coalition, declared that the future of minorities “will be protected only under a democratic state that ensures justice and equality for all citizens.” Jarba’s declaration was made during his meeting with a media delegation that represented the Christian components of the March 14th Movement. The President also expressed the Coalition’s interest in future relations between Syria and Lebanon, hoping that such “relations will be based on mutual respect for the full sovereignty of both countries.” Jarba also expressed his hope for the establishment of cooperative economic relations between the two countries, as well as “to reach a clear solution to the issue of the Lebanese detainees in Assad’s prisons whose regime has been hostile towards the Lebanese government for over twenty years.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
