Ahmad Jarba, chief of the National Coalition, visited the Syrian refugees’ camp of Kourkosk near Erbil, which hosts about 15,000 Syrian refugees, and met with refugees in the camp who described the situation and the circumstances they are living in and presented their needs. Jarba vowed to work on solving their problems and meeting their needs as quickly as possible. Jarba also reviewed the services offered by the government of Iraqi Kurdistan region to the Syrian refugees and the efforts made to take care of the Syrian refugees. The Syrian Coalition chief told Massoud Barzani of the Syrian Coalition’s intention to open an office for Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) in order to facilitate the delivery of aid to the refugee camps in Kurdistan Region. Jarba confirmed that the Syrian Coalition is making every effort aimed at meeting the needs of the Syrian refugees in neighboring countries and alleviating their suffering. He also expressed hope that they return home as soon as possible to rebuild what was destroyed by the Assad regime, and to establish new democratic rule that guarantees equality and justice for all Syrians without discrimination. Jarba was accompanied during his visit to the camp by Dr. Hamid Drbandi, head of the Public Relations Department in the presidency of the Kurdistan Region, and Nawzad Hadi, Governor of Erbil, in addition to Vice-Presidents, Farouk Tayfur and Salem Maslet, and a delegation of the Political Committee represented by Muna Mustafa and Dr Abdul Basit Sida and Sipan Hikmat.
