Ahmad Jarba, head of the Syrian Coalition, is going to travel to China on an official visit on the 14th of April. Jarba will meet with a number of Chinese officials to discuss several issues and to clarify the position of the Syrian people and explain his suffering, in addition to offering prospects of a political solution. Jarba previously met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on January 21st in Montreux, Switzerland at the request of the Chinese side. During the meeting, the Chinese minister thanked the Syrian Coalition for its participation in the Geneva conference, and stressed that China supports the right of the Syrian people to change and also supports the full implementation of Geneva I declaration. Jarba also said that despite the differences between the two sides, caused by China’s vetoing of three UN Security Council resolutions that condemn the Assad regime, the Syrian Coalition is still ready to develop relations in order to reach greater understanding about the goals of the revolution, and the need for democratic change sought by the Syrian people, namely the departure of Assad and his cronies.
