President of the Syrian National Coalition, Mr. Khaled Khoja, has received a phone call from Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry, Monday morning.
The two discussed the latest developments of the Syrian issue, assessed the political situation, and explored the nature of the transitional period.
Kerry stressed that Geneva Communiqué is the reference for any political settlement in Syria, and he reaffirmed the American position that Bashar Assad doesn’t have a role in the future of Syria. He reemphasized that the efforts of the United States of America are targeted towards stopping the killing inside Syria, lifting the suffering of the Syrian people, and helping to move towards stability as soon as possible.
On his side, the president of the Coalition affirmed his commitment to a political solution based on Geneva communique, and that he will continue his outreach efforts of uniting the political opposition and the military forces. Khoja indicated the importance of activating the Security Council resolution number 2165 which demands providing humanitarian aid to the besieged areas.
Khoja reiterated the full cooperation of the Coalition with the international efforts to reach a just political solution which realizes the aspirations of the Syrian people in achieving freedom and moving towards democracy. Source (Syrian Coalition)
