The Kurdish National Council condemned the raids on houses and arrests of young men by militias of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in a number of villages and towns in Alhasaka province.
In a statement released earlier today, the Kurdish National Council stressed that the PYD militias bear full responsibility for these actions and their consequences, calling on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards protecting the Kurds from intimidating practices. It also called on the Kurdish population in Syria to stand against these practices and expose them with peaceful means.
The PYD militia stormed several villages around the town of Amouda, the town of Almalkiya and the town of Ma’bada in Alhasaka province. Residents of these towns spoke about violent house-to-house raids by the PYD militias who also thoroughly searched homes and women. The militias confiscated individual firearms and arrested dozens of young people for compulsory recruitment into the PYD ranks. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
