The Kurdish National Council has held the PYD militia responsible for failing to reveal the truth about the Ayn al-Arab/Kobani massacre, known as the “Night of Treachery,” during which hundreds of civilians were killed.
In a statement by the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council, the Council stated that on the morning of June 25, 2015, armed terrorist groups committed a heinous crime that shook the town of Ayn al-Arab/Kobani. They carried out random killings of people in the streets and homes, resulting in the deaths of hundreds, most of whom were innocent civilians.
The Council emphasized that this atrocity is one of countless war crimes and crimes against humanity, occurring just a few months after the town had been liberated from the ISIS terror group.
The Council noted that nine years have passed since the massacre, yet its circumstances remain shrouded in mystery. The families of the victims are still waiting for the truth to be uncovered through a transparent investigation.
The Council added that there are still many unanswered questions about who committed this heinous crime and how these forces managed to enter the town with their weapons.
The Council expressed its strong condemnation of the massacre, holding the PYD militia responsible for not revealing the truth, as the town was under its control at that time. They stressed that the impact of this crime will not fade until the truth is revealed, justice is served, and the perpetrators of this atrocity are held accountable.
