Member of the political committee Badr Jamous condemned in strongest terms the fierce military campaign waged by regime forces and Hezbollah militia on the town of Zabadani in Rural Damascus, stressing that the campaign does not differentiate between civilian homes and military sites and use indiscriminate weapons such as barrel bombs and mortar shells.
Battles raged at dawn today between defenders of the town and regime forces backed by the Hezbollah militia. The most violent clashes took place on the western side of the town, while Assad’s air force have conducted over 15 raids on the town since the morning.
The onslaught on Zabadani was preceded by bombings in the towns of Al Tel, Rankous and Wadi Barada, the goal of which is to drive civilians from those areas for the Hezbollah militia to seize them and form a defense line between Lebanon and Syria.
Jamous said that regime forces have obliterated all tourist attractions in Zabadani, stressing that the Lebanese government is responsible for controlling its borders with Syria and preventing Hezbollah militias’ incursions into Syrian territory. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
