The head of the legal committee Haitham al-Maleh calls on the Arab foreign ministers to withdraw the legal legitimacy from the Assad regime and to recognize the Syrian Coalition as the sole legitimate representative of the Syrian people, in a speech he delivered on behalf of the president of the Syrian Coalition during the Arab foreign ministers meeting at the Arab League. He also calls for the handover of Syria’s seat at the the Arab League to the Syrian Coalition and for giving the right of the Syrian interim government to issue official documents to the Syrians.
He urges the Arab foreign ministers to shoulder their national and humanitarian responsibilities and step up all kinds of support for the Syrian revolution to prevent alienating the rights of the Syrian people, stressing that a political solution must not be at the expense or sacrifice of the Syrian people.
Maleh points out that The Assad regime has sought to portray the Syrian revolution since the early days as terrorist gangs, adding that the Syrian people have become victims of the terrorism of the Assad regime and of the sectarian militias coming from beyond Syria’s borders.
Moreover, Maleh said that the international anti-ISIS coalition has given an opportunity for the Assad regime to continue to terrorize and kill the Syrian people,” adding that sectarian gangs, led by Hezbollah, Al-Qods Force, the League of Ahl al-Haq, and the Mahdi Army have not been placed on terrorism list yet . He concluded his remarks stressing that Syria is now under direct military Iranian occupation, pointing to Iran’s efforts to form a Syrian version of Hezbollah out of these militias, which threaten to change the demography of Syria.
