Vice-President Hisham Marwa said that the Assad regime is to blame for disrupting all efforts to reach a political solution in Syria as it insists on going ahead with the killing and destruction of populated areas.
In response to Assad’s recent remarks made to Russian journalists, Marwa said that Assad waived Syria’s sovereignty to Iran and Russia, adding that his daily crimes against Syrian civilians are the main reason behind the flow of migrants to Europe.
Marwa stresses the Syrian Coalition’s commitment to a political solution from the outset to bring about a radical and real political transition in Syria that achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity. He also reiterates the Syrian Coalition’s support of the Geneva I Communique which calls for the formation of a transitional governing body with full powers. He concluded that this body is the only one capable of leading all Syrians in the fight against terrorism and of restoring security, stability and the reconstruction of Syria.
