Vice-President Hisham Marwa said that eradicating extremism in Syria cannot be achieved without the formation of a transitional governing body, adding that the Assad regime is the root cause of terrorism in Syria as it allowed extremist groups to grow and fester. “Assad’s departure from power provides the ideal climate to eliminate ISIS.” He said.
Marwa stresses that any alliance aimed at rooting out extremism requires collaborating with forces on the ground who are determined to defeat it. These forces are certainly not the Assad regime, but the transitional governing body with full powers whose formation was clearly spelled out in the Geneva statement. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
