A number of Syrian media experts have begun today analyzing the major problems facing the media work in the Syrian revolution. The media experts have sorted the problems into major groups to more easily break them down and find the best solutions. The work was divided among five main workshops which addressed the problems of lack professionalism, media archive and sources. The experts also discussed the political influence on the nature of the media message and how to avoid it, the impact of the institutional and administrative work on the nature of media work, and the funding problems and its impact on the media message and its impartiality. Hossam Addin Mohamed, a media expert who is participating in this project, described the project as the right step towards shaping the Syrian media outlets that have long been manipulated and exploited by the Assad regime to serve its own ends. We are meeting here to shape up the unique media experience produced by the Syrian activists. No one can deny the huge efforts made in this field, but of similar importance is the need to tackle the errors that emerged while covering the Syrian revolution. The media battle is as important as the battle against the Assad regime, and the failure to create professional and independent media outlets would surely be detrimental to the revolution.
