Enas al-Najjar, Director of Communications for the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee and a member of the Refugees and Displaced Persons Working Group in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), met with Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Mehmet Aktaş in the Turkish capital, Ankara. The meeting addressed recent developments related to Syria, the situation of Syrian refugees in Türkiye, and the challenges they face, as well as potential solutions to enhance their stability and improve their living conditions.
Najjar emphasized the importance of allowing Syrians to obtain round-trip permits to Syria, highlighting the significant role such measures play in enabling them to visit their homes and loved ones, while also supporting informed decisions regarding voluntary return for those interested, in a way that benefits all parties.
For his part, Aktaş reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people, clarifying that there are no decisions to force Syrians to return to their country. He also emphasized that Türkiye’s doors will remain open to all.
