The Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria has released an investigative report titled “Al-Tadamon Neighborhood: From Establishment to Massacre,” exposing the prominent events and violations committed by the Assad regime’s militias in the Al-Tadamon neighborhood in Damascus, along with the conditions of the Palestinian refugees residing there.
The report sheds light on the Palestinian refugees’ situation in the Al-Tadamon neighborhood from March 2011 until the end of 2022, starting from the first anti-Assad regime demonstration to the displacement of the camp residents to northern Syria, followed by the regime’s recapture of the neighborhood in 2018.
Additionally, the report presents statistics on the Palestinian victims, detainees, and missing individuals from the Tadamon neighborhood and Yarmouk camp who faced enforced disappearance and kidnapping.
The report delves into the regime’s militias’ formation and relationship with the Assad regime, the Palestinian armed groups loyal to it, and their practices in the Yarmouk camp.
The investigative report documents the regime militias’ arrests and field executions on Nasreen Street, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians from the neighborhood and its surroundings. The report also mentions the Al-Tadamon Massacre, previously reported by the British Guardian newspaper.
Furthermore, the Action Group discussed the detention and torture centers in the Tadamon neighborhood, including residents’ testimonies regarding the violations that occurred during the period of regime militias’ control of the area.
