Vice-president Nagham al-Ghadiri stated Assad’s latest remarks, in which he ruled out possibility of a transition process as long as some areas are outside his control, are meant to promote military solution. Assad seeks to provide justifications and flimsy arguments as well as to delay a political solution.
Ghadiri pointed out that any international inaction in dealing with the Assad regime, the main cause of terrorism in the region, will reproduce and fuel violence.
She stressed that no breakthrough in negotiations can be made unless the Assad regime’s terror is stopped and the Russian-Iranian invasion comes to an end. For negations to succeed, barrel bombing must stop, and pressure must be put on Assad to step aside, not the Syrian people.
Ghadiri added that defeating terrorism in the way Assad and his allies propose means to eliminate the Syrian people and bury their aspirations for freedom, dignity and justice, and to return to pre-2011. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
