A delegation of the Syrian opposition’s Negotiations Committee, headed by Nasr Al-Hariri, met with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri in Cairo on Tuesday as part of the international tour the delegation has embarked on.
The meetings discussed the Arab and international efforts to find a political solution in Syria through the Geneva process and in accordance relevant international resolutions.
Participants in the meetings agreed on the need to implement international resolutions that reclaim the Syrian people’s right to live a free and decent life and end the seven-year killings in Syria.
Hariri emphasized the important role that Egypt can play as a major Arab country in enforcing UN resolutions on Syria and in stressing the need to abide by these resolutions as well as in not allowing the derailment of the Geneva process from achieving its objectives in finding a just solution to the Syrian crisis.
For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri commended the Committee’s performance and its sending of a unified delegation to the Geneva negotiations. He expressed his country’s support for the Committee and its determination to help achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
