Nasr al-Hariri, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, states that the Assad regime’s latest massacres in Aleppo, where at least 60 civilians were killed and dozens injured, wouldn’t have taken place if the international community was not utterly silence over Assad’s barbaric crimes against the Syrian people. “The international community’s preoccupation with fighting ISIS and ignoring Assad’s daily crimes have encouraged him to commit more massacres,” Hariri said. He points out that “brutal barrel bomb attacks on densely populated areas raises the need to impose a no-fly zone and to establish safe protected havens along Syria’s northern and southern borders as wells as to speed up the arming of the FSA to allow it to protect civilians from Assad’s killing machine.” Hariri warns that international anti-ISIS strategy is doomed to fail because it is not addressing the root cause of extremism, which is the Assad regime and instead addressing the symptoms of the problem.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
