Vice-president of the Syrian Coalition Muwaffaq Nyrabiya reaffirmed the Coalition’s commitment to the fundamental principles and goals of the Syrian revolution, most importantly Assad’s departure and the rejection of giving him or his clique any role in Syria’s future. Nyrabiya also reiterated rejection of any role for Assad in the transitional period, no matter its duration or form.
Nyrabiya’s remarks were made in response to a series of lies and unsubstantiated claims byt the Assad regime meant to discredit the Coalition’s positions and its commitment to the goals of the revolution and the aspirations of the Syrian people.
The true place for Bashar al-Assad and the rest of war criminals is before the International Criminal Court, Nyrabiya stressed, adding that those with blood on their hands cannot be part of the transitional process or future Syria.
The Syrian people are fully aware of attempts by the Assad regime and some parties to put pressure on the Coalition to change its positions, Nyrabiya added. He referred to recent attempts to raise sensitive issues with the aim of covering up the recent grave developments on the ground, most notably the fierce onslaught on Aleppo by the Assad regime and its allies.
