The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office of Syndicates and Sports Unions held a virtual meeting, headed by the Office’s Coordinator and member of the political committee Abdul Majeed Barakat, with the Secretary-General of the Syrian National Olympic Committee Ahmed Al-Ali and member of the Committee Abdullah Al-Jassem.
Participants also included SOC President, Nasr al-Hariri. The two sides discussed the reality of Syrian sport, the obstacles and challenges facing it, and the vision of the Syrian Olympic Committee regarding all sports activities in the liberated areas and outside Syria.
Participants stressed the need to support all Syrian energies and talents as well as create the appropriate conditions for the success of sports activities and overcome the obstacles facing them.
A Barakat gave an overview of the work of the Committee during the last period, the consultations it held to organize sports tournaments in the liberated areas, and the participation of free athletes in regional and international competitions.
SOC President talked about the important role of sport in highlighting the civilizational and human aspects of the Syrian revolution as he stressed that the free Syrian athletes are capable of advancing the Syrian sports.
