The Syrian Coalition reaffirmed “the Syrian people are determined more than ever to continue with the revolution and regain freedom and dignity as wells to achieve all the goals of the revolution, most importantly to overthrow the murderous Assad regime.”
In a statement issued yesterday to mark the 34th anniversary of Hama Massacre, the Syrian Coalition reminded the world about the brutality of the Assad regime and called up the memory of the Hama Massacre. In 1982, and at direct orders of then president Hafez al-Assad and his inner circle, regime forces launched a full-scale onslaught on the city to suppress a public uprising. The city was fully encircled and large parts of it were razed to the ground. Heinous massacres were committed against the residents of the city.
The Syrian Coalition said that “the Syrian people have resolutely faced a legacy of unmatched criminality by the Assad regime since Hafez al-Assad seized power, reaching up to the ongoing crimes committed by his son since the outbreak of the revolution. The memory of the Syrian people and their hopes for a free Syria will continue to motivate them to go through with the revolution and get rid of a black chapter in the history of Syria.”
“Standing up in the face of the murderous Assad regime proves the Syrian people’s yearning for freedom, justice and dignity. The Syrian Revolution has exposed the criminal mentality of the Assad regime, which takes advantage of the world’s silence on its atrocities and the military and political support it receives from international and regional powers to crush the will of the Syrian people.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
