A member of the political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdullah Kaddo, emphasized that the ongoing anti-regime demonstrations taking place across various parts of Syria today mark a renewal of the Syrian revolution. He stated that the revolution remains alive in the hearts of the Syrians, and the current demonstrations in Daraa, Suwayda, and Damascus convey a message to the United Nations and the international community: the Syrian crises can only be resolved by overthrowing the Assad regime.
In an exclusive interview with K24 TV regarding the resurgence of the anti-regime revolutionary movement in southern Syria, Kaddo noted that the demonstrations are not solely a result of dire economic and living conditions, as previously reported. He pointed out that the protestors’ chants, which call for the implementation of UN Resolution 2254, provide evidence to support this.
Kaddo highlighted that the recent escalation in the protest movement serves as a message to the Arab League, the United Nations, Syrian politicians, and intellectuals alike. He asserted that the Syrian revolution must persist, as the only viable solution to the Syrian crises lies in the success of the revolution and the overthrow of the authoritarian Assad regime—something that the people can no longer endure.
Kaado added that the Assad regime anticipated that rejoining the Arab League would facilitate its pursuit of financial resources and kickstart the “reconstruction” initiative. However, it has become evident to the Arab League and the global community that the regime will not contribute to resolving issues such as the production and export of Captagon or the return of refugees. Therefore, the world must actively seek solutions to alleviate the plight of the Syrian people.
Concluding the interview, Kaddo emphasized that granting the Syrian people the autonomy to shape their own destiny benefits not only Syrians but also the entire world. He underscored that this is particularly relevant to the European Union, which hosts hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees. Kaddo stressed that enabling the Syrian people to reclaim their freedom and embrace democracy is more advantageous than allowing the current situation to persist.
