The family of the Palestinian-Syrian detainee Muhammad Tamim appealed to human rights and humanitarian organizations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to know the fate of their son who is detained by the Assad regime. It called on these organizations to help release him from the prisons of the Assad regime.
The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria said that Tamim was born in the Yarmouk camp in 1980 and specialized in healthcare services, adding that he was working at Qudsaya Healthcare Center at the time of his arrest.
The London-based monitoring group added that Tamim was detained at Al-Jisr Al-Abyad checkpoint in Damascus on May 4, 2013, and was taken to an unknown destination as no information was received about the place or circumstances of his arrest.
The Group indicated that the Assad regime’s security agencies continue to detain Palestinian-Syrian medical personnel and refuse to disclose information about their fate and whereabouts. It also pointed out that some detainees died under torture on the pretext of providing medical and humanitarian aid to the camp’s residents and aiding the wounded from neighboring areas. The Group also said that it had documented the names of number of detained doctors whose fate is still unknown.
