A two-day panel discussion organized by the Syrian Coalition concluded on Sunday in Istanbul. The panel discussion, titled: “A panel discussion on the courses and outcomes of the revolution,” discussed the situation of the Syrian revolution in its fifth year, the challenges facing it, the foreign militarily and political interventions, and attempts to impede the Syrian people’s revolution for freedom, dignity and justice.
Prominent Arab and Syrian scholars, researchers and experts participated in the discussion which began on Saturday. The panel discussion stressed the importance of the restoration of the independent national decision that expresses the free will of the Syrian people. It also stressed the need for addressing all challenges facing the revolution by establishing independent decision-making mechanisms.
The final statement of the discussion included a set of recommendations after extensive discussion of 15 papers that were presented during a session chaired by Abdul Wahab Badrakhan.
The recommendations stressed the need to transform the Syrian Coalition into an effective national institution through the formation of a specialized team of experts in politics, management and national action to lay out visions for developing the structures and bylaws of the Syrian Coalition and for bridging the gap between the Syrian Coalition and revolutionary forces.
The recommendations also stressed the need for outlining national vision for a solution in Syria based on national consensus by all political and social components.
Moreover, the recommendations stressed the importance of laying out a Syrian national social contract to serve as a basis for Syria’s future constitution and as a prelude to holding a Syrian national conference.
Participants proposed the formation of four working groups to achieve these recommendations: political, social, economic and military. These groups are to be composed of specialists from inside and outside the Syrian Coalition and will be tasked with implementing the recommendations during a short period.
President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah joined the final session of the panel discussion. He listened to the final statement and promised to work on the implementation of the set of recommendations. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
