Activists explained that the people of the town of Manbij in eastern rural Aleppo positively responded to calls for a “dignity strike” in protest against the continued compulsory recruitment operations by the PYD terrorist militia.
The activists pointed out that the townspeople closed their shops and rejected the demands of the terrorist militias to reopen the markets, despite all the threats they faced.
Rights groups have issued reports about the continued forced recruitment by the PYD terrorist militia in the areas they control, stressing that this militia recruited more than 40 child soldiers in 2022 after they were kidnapped from their families and subjected to military training.
The coordinator of the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee in the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Abdul Basit Abdul Latif, stressed that the PYD terrorist militia clearly aims to empty the region of its population and bring about demographic change through its terrorist practices, one of which is compulsory recruitment.
He pointed out the need to stop support for this militia and hold it accountable, work to return the indigenous people to their areas and homes, and enable them to manage their areas themselves, which will guarantee the return of security and stability to the region.
