The people of Suwayda city on Monday organized a sit-in protest in Al-Seir Square in the city center, renewing their demands for political change in the country and denouncing the deterioration of living conditions.
Protestors held the Assad regime responsible for bringing foreign occupation forces to Syria, such as Russia, the United States, Iran and Hezbollah militia. They also stressed the unity of the Syrian territory
Protestors held banners that read “from Suwayda, greetings to all the free people in Dara’a,” “the Captagon regime trades in infant formula,” “schools are out of service,” and “there is no sovereignty for the beggar state.”
Suwayda province has been witnessing anti-regime demonstrations and sit-in protests for more than a month to denounce the deteriorating living conditions and the Assad regime’s failure to provide basic services.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition had expressed its support for the ongoing anti-regime protests in Suwayda province. It called on the international community not to ignore these protests, achieve a political transition in accordance with UN resolutions, put an end to the Syrian tragedy, and achieve the Syrian people’s aspirations for building a state of freedom and dignity away from the Assad regime and its symbols.
