The Syrian Coalition’s political committee held a consultative meeting today with Coalition members who are part of the High Negotiations Committee.
The conferees made an assessment of the Geneva talks which the UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, suspended due to the insistence of the Assad and its Russian ally to discuss procedural details instead of implementing humanitarian provisions stipulated by Articles 12 and 13 of the UN Security Council resolution 2254.
The meeting emphasized that the humanitarian provisions of the UNSCR 2254 are non-negotiable, and must be enforced before the launch of negotiations aimed at forming a transitional governing body with full executive powers, in which Assad and his inner circle have no role to play.
The meeting discussed mechanisms to support the position of the High Negotiations Committee and its work including through a series of diplomatic and international meetings with friends of the Syrian people. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
