The political committee discussed ways to lay out a unified position on de Mistura’s plan with rebel factions and civil society organizations during the two-day meeting that ended today.
It also discussed Russia’s direct intervention in Syria and the reports about Russia’s intention to build an air base in Latakia.
The political body stresses that Russia’s direct military intervention alongside the Assad regime makes Russia a party to Assad’s genocidal war on the Syrian people.
It calls upon Russia to halt support for the Assad regime with weapons and ammunition and to withdraw troops from all Syrian territory.
It reviewed the visits made by the Syrian Coalition’s delegations to Italy and the Netherlands to discuss ways to facilitate the safe crossing of Syrian refugees to countries of asylum. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
