During a meeting held today, the Syrian Coalition’s political committee discussed developments of the international position on the Syrian Coalition’s demands for the establishment of safe zones in Syria, especially in light of the Assad regime’s escalating of aerial bombardment on residential areas.
The political committee stresses that the safe zones should include all liberated areas and corresponds to rebel gains against regime forces. It discussed ways to secure logistical support for rebels and also renews demands for lifting the ban on the provision of advanced weaponry to rebels, most importantly anti-aircraft and anti-armor weapons.
Moreover, the political committee discussed the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) calls for hosting a meeting in Riyadh to bring together all components of the Syrian opposition, a call that the Syrian Coalition has already welcomed. It also discussed the Camp David meeting held today by US President Barack Obama and its reflections on the Syrian crisis. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
