The Political Committee of the Syrian Coalition stressed after a series of meetings the need for the international community to pressure Assad to stop the heinous massacres against the Syrians as proof of its seriousness in dealing with a political solution. The Political Committee talked over the meetings held by the Syrian Coalition with high-level political figures, representing the number of states with a direct impact on the Syrian file. Among the most important meetings were the last conference which was attended by a delegation of the Syrian Coalition in London, and a meeting with the Economic Group of Friends of the Syrian people in South Korea. The members of the Political Committee said that there should be a talk about how to participate in Geneva II, within an effective vision and one voice and a common goal and a clear agenda to get to negotiating that befit the blood of Syrians. The members of the committee said: “How can we go to the Geneva II Conference without the application of the Geneva 1 Communiqué? There are still thousands of people either detained or trapped, and thousands of cases of rape and hundreds of thousands of people with disabilities.” The points discussed by the Syrian Coalition delegation when they visited Geneva two weeks ago formed the main axis of the meetings of the Political Committee, which seeks to study all the political developments related to the Syrian file. In addition, the Political Committee met with Ambassador Robert Ford. The two sides discussed the methods and the foundations for the success of a political solution as a means to end the crimes committed by the Assad regime against the Syrians, and especially the latest carnage in Aleppo, which is a clear violation of the principles of the Geneva Convention and clear evidence that Assad’s keen on a military solution and not that it is not interested in any political solution that would end the bloodshed of Syrians.
