The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee met with co-chair of the Constitutional Committee, Hadi Al-Bahra, ahead of the third round of talks due to be held in Geneva on Monday.
Participants in the meeting discussed the ongoing preparations by representatives of the Syrian Negotiations Commission in the Constitutional Committee. Al-Bahra talked about the papers and portfolios that they would submit during the upcoming round of talks.
Al-Bahra pointed out that the third round will deal with national principles according to the agreed upon agenda, indicating that this is a good step to start focusing on the constitutional provisions.
The two sides discussed the latest briefing the UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, submitted to the UN Security Council. Al-Bahra made it clear that the briefing contained important points that would contribute to controlling discussions through procedural rules and establishing the political terms of reference for the Committee’s work.
