Members of the Syrian Coalition’s political committee met with the French envoy to Syria Frank Jollier and political adviser in the Syrian file Pascal Ross in Istanbul on Friday.
The two sides discussed the latest developments on the ground, particularly Russia’s massacres against civilians in Aleppo despite the temporary truce it declared in the city on Wednesday night.
The meeting discussed ways to improve the humanitarian situation in Syria as was stated in the set of recommendations issued after the latest meeting of the International Syrian Support Group (ISSG) in Vienna and as was stipulated in Articles 12 and 13 of the UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
The political committee members stressed that the Assad regime is unwilling to engage in serious negotiations as it continues to bomb civilians indiscriminately; impedes the delivery of humanitarian aid to besieged areas; and refuses to release detainees.
For his part, Jollier reaffirmed his country’s continued support for the Syrian people, stressing the need for finding a just political solution that achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
