The political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened its regular meeting on Thursday, reviewing reports from Vice-Presidents, the Secretary-General, and department coordinators. Discussions covered the latest field and political developments in Syria.
SOC President Hadi Al-Bahra provided insights into his week’s activities, including meetings with the UN envoy to Syria, as well as envoys from Great Britain and France during their participation in the 2023 Doha Forum.
Vice President Abdel Majeed Barakat highlighted his recent activities, joined by the Head of the Syrian Interim Government in liberated areas, focusing on inaugurating vital sustainable service projects.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dima Moussa shared her involvement in the annual Syrian Civil Defense conference in Adana, representing the SOC president. She also discussed upcoming preparations for activities by the Syrian Women’s Authority.
Vice President Abdel Hakim Bashar reported on his participation in a symposium addressing the Syrian Kurds and their choices. He emphasized the strategic commitment of Syrian Kurds to align with the Syrian revolution and SOC, deepening ties with revolutionary and civil institutions until the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, dignity, and democracy are met.
SOC Secretary-General Haytham Rahmeh provided an overview of the General Secretariat’s progress and departmental reports. The political committee evaluated reports from SOC’s foreign missions in Western capitals.
Abdullah Kaddo, Coordinator of the Strategic Studies, Consultations, and Documentation Working Group, presented research analyzing economic relations between Iran and the Assad regime in light of Iranian efforts to recover debt from the regime.
Political committee member Anas Al-Abdah offered a political analysis of global and regional factors that will impact the Syrian crisis in the upcoming year.
