President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Anas Abdah, emphasized that “the Iranian regime operates the largest international multinational terrorist organization that is based on sectarian, subversive, and expansionist project.” He said that the Iranian regime overtly intervenes in the internal affairs of many countries, especially Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen and covertly intervenes in the affairs of the Arab Gulf states.
In an interview with the SY24 media outlet, President Abdah indicated that the Iranian-backed militias have affiliates in the Arab Maghreb countries, Egypt, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. He pointed out that these militias pose a serious threat to Syria, the Arab countries, and beyond, stressing that all these countries have a responsibility to cofr0nt this threat an rid the Iranian people and the world of the Iranian viscous regime.
President Abdah went on to say that there is a specialized team in the SOC that is tasked with tracking Iran’s terrorist practices in Syria. Field experts and military researchers are also following this issue at the local and international levels as well as monitoring the activities of these militias in the region, even inside Iran itself.
Moreover, President Abdah said that Iranian, Afghan, Iraqi, and Lebanese militias are operating in Syria, among other nationalities, pointing out that what they share common is their sectarian and terrorist project. He added that these militias operate under direct orders from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps.
President Abdah stressed that no one of these murderous militias will remain on Syrian soil, adding the Assad regime’s naturalization of members of these militias is void and null. “We will hold all these militias to account through law as our priority is preventing any criminal terrorist entity from escaping punishment.”
“The withdrawal of these militias and occupation forces and ending all forms of external interference in Syrian is our primary goal. We will not consider any final solutions that do not address this sovereign issue. Such demands are not subject to negotiations as an integral part of the sovereignty of any state.”
When asked about the results of the latest report by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, President Abdah said: “The findings of the report ushered in the end of the Assad regime. The states that have recently dared to communicate with the regime after the issuance of this report must think a thousand times before they consider the normalizations of relations with a deadly terrorist regime that has been killing and displacing the Syrian people and committing genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity against them.
Regarding the political process, President Abdah said: “The political process has a clear framework and should lead to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254, including the establishment of a Transitional Governing Body with full powers that represents the aspirations of the Syrian people and seeks to regain full sovereignty over the entire Syrian territory without any external interference or the presence of any militia or terrorist organizations on the ground.”
“Our people have revolted against injustice and dictatorship over the past nine years and are still continuing with the revolution despite the world’s failure to support them and the major actors’ failure to end this regime’s legitimacy as well as despite the killing, displacement, detention and massacres. The Syrian people are still determined to carry on with this revolution because it represents their true existence. They are seeking to create a better future for their children to live in freedom and dignity as the rest of the free people. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
