President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, sent a congratulatory letter to Mr. Antonio Tajani on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Italian Republic.
Al-Meslet thanked Italy for the positions it has taken so far to support the Syrian people and the Syrian revolution in the face of the crimes of the Assad regime and its allies and sectarian militias.
Al-Meslet stressed the importance of Italy’s role in international forums, and its commitment to continue supporting the just cause of the Syrian people.
He also stressed the importance of taking effective steps to achieve a comprehensive political transition that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people in accordance with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and relevant United Nations resolutions, most importantly UN Security Council resolutions 2254 and 2118, and United Nations General Assembly resolution 67/262 (2013).
Al-Meslet said that the SOC is keen on enhancing bilateral relations with the Italian Republic as he expressed his hope to meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss prospects for future cooperation in the near future.
