President of the Syrian Coalition Anas Alabdah stressed the importance of supporting the Syrian interim government in order to provide services to Syrians living in liberated areas. He emphasized the need to improve the humanitarian situation which continues to deteriorate as a result of constant bombardment and sieges imposed by the Assad regime on many areas across Syria.
In a meeting with representatives of the Friends of the Syrian People in the Turkish city of Gaziantep on Tuesday, President Alabdah and head of the interim government Jawad Abu Hatab proposed plans to improve services and revamp the economy in liberated areas. Alabdah and Abu Hatab thanked the donor countries for the support they provide for the Syrian people, especially to refugees and the internally displaced persons.
Abu Hatab gave an overview of the programs and plans of the interim government, stressing the need to focus on the health and education sectors. He also stressed the need for launching reconstruction projects to create jobs in liberated areas.
Abu Hatab pointed out that Russia continues to bomb markets in Idlib province, killing and maiming civilians, including women and children. He called on the US-led anti-ISIS coalition to exercise caution and avoid causing casualties among Syrian civilians.
The international community must act urgently to prevent the indiscriminate bombardment of civilians, Abu Hatab said. He noted that the interim government will focus on developing human resources in liberated areas. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
