President of the Syrian Coalition Abdurrahman Mustafa said that it is regrettable how the international community left the Syrian people alone in the face of the crimes of the Assad regime, Russia and Iran. He pointed out that the United States has stopped even humanitarian aid, not just military one.
Mustafa added that Washington is now supporting only eastern of the Euphrates region, which is under the control of the militia of the Democratic Union Party (PYD). He noted that the United States did not seek to enforce international resolutions on Syria, leaving Iran and Russia to gain the upper hand in the country.
Mustafa said that the US administration had given Russia and the Assad regime a free hand in southern Syria with the aim of securing the border of the Israeli occupation in return for the withdrawal of the Iranian militias from the area.
“The US apparently left the arena in Syria in favor of Russia as southern Syria was once covered by the ‘de-escalation zones’ agreement which was reached by Russia, the United States and Jordan. The United States, however, pulled out of this agreement about a month ago leaving the region completely to the Assad regime and Russia,” he added.
Moreover, Mustafa pointed out that hundreds of thousands of civilians have been displaced by the Assad regime’s onslaught on the area. He added that those civilians are now stranded on the Jordanian border without food or water, adding that Jordan’s decision to close the border has created a humanitarian tragedy.
