The PYD militia killed a young civilian from the village of Darnaj in the Deir Ezzor countryside on Sunday, after detaining, torturing, and then shooting him, which sparked widespread anger and protests in the region.
Local media and news networks reported that the PYD militia killed the young man, Alaa Khader Al-Dughmush, after torturing him, and dumped his body outside the village of Darnaj. In response, angry villagers closed roads and demonstrated against the PYD militia, demanding their withdrawal from the village and an end to crimes committed against civilians.
Additionally, the PYD militia kidnapped Khaled Miro, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Sub-Council, from his home in the town of Al-Malikiyah in the Hasakah province at midnight on Saturday.
Abdulbasit Abdullatif, Secretary of the political committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), stressed that these crimes committed by the PYD militia against the residents of the regions east of the Euphrates raise serious concerns about the continued support these militias receive from international backers.
Abdullatif pointed out that reining in the PYD militia and stopping their crimes against civilians is not linked to any regional or international complications, despite claims from some parties when demanding an end to the Assad regime’s ongoing crimes against the Syrian people for the past 13 years.
He emphasized the need to take responsibility for protecting civilians, stop disregarding their lives, and cease support for the brutal PYD militia.
