Haytham Rahmeh, the Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has welcomed the stance of Qatar, Kuwait, the United States, and the European Union in rejecting the rehabilitation and normalization of relations with the criminal Assad regime. He also expressed gratitude for their refusal to allow the regime’s return to the Arab League.
Rahmeh emphasized that there is no way to achieve a solution that meets the Syrian people’s aspirations except through implementing the UN resolutions, specifically the Geneva Communique of 2012 and UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254. He noted that the Syrian people are still sacrificing to attain their freedom and liberation from the Assad regime. He also expressed appreciation for any country or group that stands with the Syrian people to reach their objectives.
Furthermore, Rahmeh pointed out that countries that have pursued normalization with the Assad regime have strayed from the correct path in addressing the Syrian people’s issue. He stressed that such a path will not serve their interests or those of the Syrian people and the region. Instead, it will only exacerbate the political climate and destabilize the region’s security.
