Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haytham Rahmeh, condemned the violent crackdown being practiced by the Iranian regime against protesters in the capital, Tehran, and several other provinces following yesterday’s protests that chanted slogans against Khamenei and the mullahs’ regime.
Rahmeh stressed that the free Syrian people support the Iranian people’s uprising to overthrow the Iranian oppressive, terrorist regime, and bring about a democratic transformation in the country.
He made it clear that getting rid of the Iranian mullahs’ regime has become a necessity for the Iranian people who are subjected to injustice, oppression and impoverishment. He added: “It has also become an urgent necessity for the security of the region, as the Iranian regime sponsors dozens of terrorist militias that are committing crimes in many Arab countries, especially Syria.”
Rahmeh called on the international community to support the ongoing protests in Iran so that the Iranian people could regain their freedom and rid the region of a terrorist regime that seeks to sabotage the region, tear its social fabric, and spread hatred and sectarianism among its peoples.
Several Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran, have witnessed angry protests since Saturday in response to the way the security forces treat women, especially after the death of the 22-year-old woman, Mahsa Amini, last Friday, after she was arrested and beaten by the Iranian police.
