Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haytham Rahmeh, mourned the death of Khairiya al-Ghajari, mother of seven fallen heroes, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the Syrian people. He extended his condolences to the Syrian people and the family and relatives of Khairiya, praying that Allah have mercy on her and forgive her.
Rahmeh praised the pivotal role Syrian women have been playing for over eleven years, and their courage in the face of difficulties and tragedies they have been enduring due to the atrocities of the Assad regime and its allies.
“Since the start of the revolution in 2011, Syrian women have assumed an important position in the Syrian revolution,” Rahmeh said.
He added: “The late Khairiya, a mother of seven fallen heroes, set a shining example for Syrian women, and was a symbol of unwavering commitment to the revolution’s goals and principles despite the endless tragedies afflicting her.”
“Syrian women have been working in various fields and in exceptionally difficult conditions to support society even though they were forcibly displaced from their homes because of the atrocious crimes of the Assad regime and its allies.
Rahmeh stressed the need to empower Syrian women and strengthen their role in the new Syria that the Syrian people aspire to build, a state that is based on the values of freedom, justice and dignity away from the Assad regime and its cronies”
