Member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hussein al-Raad, said that the areas under the control of the Assad regime and PYD terrorist militia are witnessing an exodus of people to the freed territories in order to escape the dire economic conditions and terrorist practices.
Al-Raad pointed out that more than 46,000 people arrived in Ras al-Ayn from different regions between April 2021 and August 2022. He made it clear that those people moved to the freed territories to escape arrest, torture and forced conscription in the regime and PYD-held areas, in addition to the hyperinflation in these areas.
Al-Raad indicated that Ras al-Ayn is currently under blockade, which poses many challenges to the civilian population. He stressed the need to communicate with the United Nations and international organizations in order to enter Ras al-Ayn and Tal Abyad in order to assess the needs and deliver urgent humanitarian aid to those in need.
Al-Raad pointed out that any further delay in the humanitarian response will threaten the lives of tens of thousands of residents, especially with the approach of winter, when needs increase and crises worsen.
