Nasr al-Hariri, Secretary General of the Syrian Coalition, calls on the United Nations to assume its responsibility to protect Syrian civilians and implement resolutions passed on Syria, especially the resolution No. 2165 that calls for the introduction of relief aid to all areas without the consent of the Assad regime. Hariri’s remarks came in response to the regime forces’ targeting of the warehouses containing relief aid sent the UN by mortar and artillery shells in the besieged district of Al Waer in Homs. Hariri also said that the Assad regime is still impeding the implementation of the UN resolutions, and has so far blocked access to the besieged areas, causing a humanitarian disaster that threatens millions of civilians in the besieged areas which suffer from starvation, cold and shortages of fuel.
