According to a statement released by the Syria Response Coordinators, Iran is continuing to transfer military equipment to support its sectarian militias in Syria and assist Assad’s forces, under the guise of providing humanitarian aid to victims of the recent earthquake in the Assad regime-held areas.
The statement further revealed that over 223 planes of international aid had arrived at the airports of Aleppo, Damascus, and Latakia, but were seized by the Assad regime forces and converted into stores and warehouses to be sold later in the local markets.
The Response Coordinators also pointed out that the relief operations carried out by Arab and Western countries had become a gateway to normalize relations with the Assad regime, after years of threatening trials in courts and sanctions.
Despite local organizations appealing to the international community for over ten days to bring humanitarian aid and heavy equipment into northwestern Syria to provide relief to the earthquake victims and remove the rubble, the aid has mainly flowed to the areas controlled by the Assad regime, while the appeals have gone unanswered.
